Dreams... A missing dimension?
Interesting thought that got me excited and kept me awake...
Sometimes we live through a whole lifetime in dreams as we know it in physical world defined within space and time. And when we open our eyes or wake up from dreaming and realize that we were gone only for few minutes or hours! How does that fit into the whole space and time dimensions of our world as we know it? Maybe there is another dimension that unconsciously our brain is already using and that has not been explored and we are yet to tap into? How we manage to live a whole lifespan exactly the same way we would in real physical world? Some of the things do transition over to the physical world for instance sometimes we laugh, we cry and all that happens in fraction of so called 'time' when we wake up from dream!
If we were to look at it from the perspective of how things function in brain then that might give us some clue.
Our brain definitely forms pictures, sounds and emotions and somehow they move so fast that the mechanism that carry and move them around either surpasses the boundaries of time "(in a way - speed of light)" that we are able to cover decades of time-line in few minutes (lets call that brainspeed) or runs in a totally different missing dimension which might have come to known but couldn't explain! In either case, it achieves something which we possibly can not as we know it in todays world! Considering the first case - possibility of a speed at which brain functions much faster than the speed of light which in a way defines time and that's why we are able to move in time um-immaginably faster when we are dreaming than in physical world! What if we deviced a mechanism, some nano electrodes which are attached to our visual cortex for visual part of the dream and dumped out onto an external system and see how much of data it turns out of to be?? For instance if there are huge emtpy spaces then we know its not the whole time-line and if the amount of data turns out to be a challenge then we have got the direction to the solution!!!
All this might answer lof of questions and open up whole slew of new research... Imagine the possibilities if that same dimension is brought over to the physical world...
