3D based CAPTCHA is finally getting some heat
CAPTCHA (Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart), self explanatory, is a method of verifying whether the user of a web application is a human being or a malicious computer program (known as bots) trying to register, post garbage data etc. onto a site. Some of the most common examples of CAPTCHAs are wavy lines overlaying some distorted images. You would generally see them when you are registering for an account on a web-site, or posting some information. Lately these CAPTCHA's have been compromised using intelligent character recognition techniques... So, now, these days a new CAPTCHA mechanism is gaining heat i.e. 3D images based which would not be easy to break, not with existing technologies...
